Dyson is a big fat liar

There is a new vacuum in town, and its fast…. or so “Sir” Dyson would have you think. He is claiming that he has come out with a new motor in his vacuum which spins at 104,000 rpm and is the fastest ever in the whole world – ever.
From Wikipedia:
As a general rule, the smaller the engine the higher the rotation rate of the shaft(s) needs to be to maintain top speed. Turbine blade top speed determines the maximum pressure that can be gained,this produces the maximum power possible independent of the size of the engine. Jet engines operate around 10,000 rpm and micro turbines around 100,000 rpm.
So wait – it is _normal_ for a micro-turbine to spin at 100,000 RPM? WTF Dyson? Next you are coming to come out with your new ball shaped device and claim you invented the sphere? Or would you start with a round object and claim you invented the wheel…. I mean, you are old, but not that old. And your quote is ridiculous “ten times as fast as a commercial aircraft, five times as fast as a Formula 1 engine and more than twice as fast as the most powerful industrial milling machines.”
So to keep this straight – you are comparing a small, handheld electric motor with ONE moving part to a Formula 1 engine that has hundreds of moving parts that revolve and reciprocate and also comparing to a milling machine that can’t spin too fast because then it wouldn’t be able to mill. Hype has surpassed intelligence at this point. You are truly a doucebag. Or should I say “Sir” Douchebag.
CrunchGear further states “Remember that rumor that was floating around last year about Dyson wanting to get into cars? Well, it looks like it could happen in the future. According to Dyson, the technology is scalable and there’s a team of 50 motor engineers at the Wiltshire HQ and many of them have automotive backgrounds.” Which means that we have another fullofhimselfnoreallyhaveItoldyoulatelyhowawesomeIam Elon Musk type on our hands.
This new technology is not new. RC Cars have been using it for years. Dyson is doing nothing novel here, just relentless self promotion and hype. Here is a video of a 121mph RC car with a brushless motor –

Obviously you’ve never heard of using metaphor for the purpose of marketing a product in a 30 second window. In one sentence you challenge the intelligence of this company’s promotional message, and in the next you use a metaphor yourself – comparing them to a feminine hygienic device. And you spelled it wrong the first time. Perhaps you’re the idiot?

It’s not a metaphor, it’s a lie. A metaphor would be:
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
-Bill Shakespears (Britney’s uncle)
And maybe I misspelled douche bag. At least I didn’t claim to have the world’s fastest one.

This Knight is iclined to over state his claims. It’s mainly due to the early rejection and not getting things fully developed and the difficuty scaling as the rules don’t hold the same. The swiched reluctance motor is nothing new they were best at the time electric motors were still called engines this being a vairible reluctance motor. T J Miller has a book Sw Re Mo and their drivesThe SR is switched electronicly which some how makes it different. This is my field of R&D and by the name of my company I hope to be in production of DCMs that produce no counter electro magnetic force. This will enable the motor to turn at high RPMs with out having to increase the voltage, I think he has come through some difficult times and in his need to keep up self belief we all know that there was a wheelbarrow with a large plastic ball that made a claim perhaps Dyson may have used it in a “Patent” clain as previous art. I am just about to modify one of these motors to run without Back EMF (dynomo effect). He might even want to use it.
